#40 of #365 A Prompt A Day For Bee ~ Crow’s Call

This one still makes me smile:

I was doing a poetry project from June 2014 to May 2015. I asked my readers to give me a prompt and I wrote a poem about it. It was working rather well in the beginning but very soon I ran out of readers and prompts. However, I was not giving up and changing it into posting a poem a day and finding an interesting prompt myself. I look fondly back to that time and even have started to write a poem a day at the end of last year. But most of them won’t see any publishing. But here is number 40 of the old “A Prompt A Day for Bee”:

Can you believe it? #40 poems into #365! 40!

The number seems somehow significant. It is a nice number in my opinion. My life started properly at the age of 40 and it is kind of halfway through if we are lucky.

But no matter how significant I believe this one is I struggle a little. I struggle a little to keep the motivation up. I struggle a little to come up with interesting poetry. I just struggle a little.

Maybe I am too hard on myself, but on days where I have to work full shifts I find it really hard to be creative as well. I really admire those who can have a full-time day job and are able to create great novels and other art after that.

But no matter what, I must not procrastinate any further. Have to leave soon and the washing needs hanging up as well. Today’s poem again is inspired by a line from the poetry line generator at “Poems of Quote”. The line is: “Crows await the night at dusk” Oh, I love crows and the night of course, so maybe it won’t be so difficult after all 🙂

Crow’s Call

Crows await

the night

at dusk

await at dusk

they do.

Their caw caw

sounds afield with force

to call our demons due.

They call our demons

from afar

and know

our duty here.

Our duty is

to face them now

and overcome them all.

To overcome them

all we need

a guide and

guard around.

A guide and

guard around,

we need to grow

and raise

our strength.

To grow and raise

our strength we need

to find the power deep

within and

crow can guide us

where we find

the secret to our needs.

As you might know, by now I am learning about animal spirit guides in shamanic thinking and crow is a powerful guide to the mysteries of life. They are supposed to be the guardians of the void and can help you to navigate into the new that might come into your life. And facing your own demons, then often comes with the territory. In this sense: May you have a guided day and night!
