Wordless Wednesday ~ Cleaning up…

If you are following any of my social media you might have seen my pictures of my rubbish trophies from last week. I’ve taken responsibility for the area that I walk the dog in, in the mornings and started collecting the rubbish that flies around.

It was important to do that last week because part of the walk is a narrow street that has more traffic now because another street to the next town is closed. So I am not collecting there until February when that street is open again. It is just too dangerous.

To make a long story short: Here are the pictures of what I collected:

The First Bag of Rubbish… December 31st, 2018 (full 2,5 km round)

description for visually impaired readers: green compostable bag filled with plastic and a green dog poo bag full of poo.

It is astonishing how much dog poo and how many dog poo bags are left on a 2,5 km stretch of land.

The Second Bag of Rubbish… January 1st, 2019

(about 400m along one side of the road)

Description for visually impaired readers: Black greynound in red coat with grey lead going towards front of image. Green compostable bag in front of it full of different sorts of plastic

Crip bags, dog poo bags, unrecognisable bags…

The Third Bag of Rubbish… January 2nd, 2019

(I wasn’t feeling well, just along the field path not the road)

description for visually impaired readers: green compostable bag on a grass filled with different sorts of packaging mostly crisps

I know I repeat myself but the amount of dog poo….

The Fourth Bag of Rubbish… January 3rd, 2019

(about 400m along road)

Description for visually impaired readers: green compostable bag full of plastic and a full dog poo bag

All these crisp bags!!!!!

The Fifth Bag of Rubbish… January 4th, 2019

(bits here and there)

Description for visually impaired readers: close up of green compostable bag filled with drink can, crisp bag, unrecognisable plastic

All these drink cans…

The Sixth Bag of Rubbish… January 5th, 2019

Description for visually impaired readers: green compostable bag on grass filled with drinks can, door mirror, crisp bags…

That was the other side of the road which I wanted to have done before the holidays ended and the other street was closed. It was really heavy because there were alcohol bottles in there too. Had to use a second bag in the end because it was too heavy.

The Seventh Bag of Rubbish… January 6th, 2019

(The whole 2,5 km)

Description for visually impaired readers: compostable bag billed with squashed drinks cans, crisp bags, unrecognisable plastic…

  1. You’re doing a good thing, Bee. What I don’t get is why people think it is okay to just leave their trash laying around. Surely it isn’t that hard to find a bin to put it in, if they’d just look.

  2. My kids and I collect beach trash once a month.
It is the worst after spring break.
I hope my kids will not treat other places that way when they go to spring break.

    Thank you for sharing!

    1. Hi Lisa, that’s brilliant, that you do that and I think they won’t. They learn now that it is not a good thing to do. When I collect then I often think how my parents would have grounded me for weeks if I’d dare to through stuff out of the car window. That’s one reason why I am collecting now… Thanks for stopping by!
