Blast from the Past: Teaser Tuesday ~ Woke Up This Morning

September 2019

I totally forgot about this one. 🙂

May 2015

Today my Tuesday Teaser is from a  poetry book.  I love writing poetry and every now and then get myself my poetry fix from the library.

I usually just go to the library and see which poetry books are there. Last week Tuesday I stumbled over this one:

Brian Docherty ~ Woke Up This Morning published by Smokestack Books in 2012. I actually read it in November 2013 but could not remember when I was in the library even though it felt pretty familiar. Never mind. On Goodreads, I wrote that it’s brilliant and I still feel like that.

You can find out more about the author here

And here comes my teaser:

If a swimmer meets his reflection as he dives in,

which world does he enter and on who’s terms?

Does this reflection enter our world, take his place

and go about his business on its own terms?

This is from the poem “Reflected Object” on page 40 of “Woke Up This Morning” by Brian Docherty.

This meme does not exist anymore as far as I can see. Shame….

“Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of A Daily Rhythm. Anyone can play along! Just do the

following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!”
